Born in Samoa and brought up in New Zealand, Chef Monica Galetti moved to Britain in 1999 to work alongside Michel Roux Jnr at Le Gavroche in London. She became a household name in 2008 when she joined the BBC2 team as a judge on Masterchef:The Professionals and has gone on to co-present BBC2’s Amazing Hotels – Life Beyond the Lobby.
She is the author of two books: Monica’s Kitchen and The Skills.
David Galetti is a native of the Jura region in France on the Swiss border. After National Service and training at 3 Michelin starred level, he came to London in 2001 to work as Sommelier at Le Gavroche where he met Monica. They married in 2004.
Together they opened their first restaurant, Mere, in Fitzrovia in March 2017.
Renee Miller was brought up in the beautiful, scenic district of Muskoka; two hours drive north of Toronto. After school, Renee continued her studies at the George Brown College, where she embarked on a nine-month course at the chef school.
Experience at fine dining level in Toronto followed and saw her gain in both skills and position, before leaving for Europe where she worked her way through France, Italy, Spain and Scotland.
Eventually settling in London, she worked at Michelin level for four years and joins the team at Mere as Head Chef under Monica Galetti.
Sandra Bein grew up in her parent’s family run hotel in Austria. After studying for a degree in hospitality at catering college, she worked in various four star hotels in Tyrol, where she developed a strong passion for wine and trained as a Sommelier.
She moved to London where she has worked at Michelin level for the past four years.
Nico Mognol is from Belluno, a city in the Veneto Region in Northeast Italy. After studying Front of House at catering school, he went on to gain experience and position at Michelin level in both Italy and London, before further training as a Sommelier.
Alberto Fluttero was born and raised near Turin in Italy. After studying at the prestigious Alma Chef School in Parma, he went on to train and work at Michelin level in both Milan and London.
